Here's what Australian teachers have been saying,
who are currently using the Wonder Words program:
"The visual representation of the words as well as the repetition found in the worksheets, assisted my students to actually remember the sight words taught. Most of my students are diagnosed with dyslexia and struggle to learn new words. This is the only program that I have found that assists my students in learning and remembering words taught."Yvette H - Special Support, WA
"I have been using Wonder Words for one particular student in my class. He loves his work and is finally beginning to learn some words. He loves signing (reading) the books and is now developing his signing more when we read together. He has been found often in class sitting with his little pack of books from the past few weeks and is signing every word as he goes. This program has been able to support my special little man and has given him confidence in his abilities."Michelle R - Special Education, NSW
"Children who were the most vulnerable, in regards to their reading, have had a huge amount of success. One student who was on a PM Benchmark 4 (and was on this for a year) has gone onto a Level 10 in less than 10 weeks! This program gave him such confidence! If this program works for the most vulnerable, then surely it will work for the high flyers as well!"Suzie C - Year 1, NSW
"Wonder Words has become very popular with my beginning readers and I am seeing fabulous results every week. The children can’t wait to see each week’s work and stay fully on task throughout each activity. The explanatory videos are informative and supportive."Jo Anne - Foundation, QLD
You Will Get
- Story Hollow - online interactive game platform for up to 34 students
The app is central to the Wonder Words program, setting strong foundations in the 44 phonemes.
When students engage with the app, they are introduced to the alphabet, learn and consolidate common sounds, progressing through to building CVC words and sentences. From there, students embark on the acquisition of high frequency words in a fun and engaging world of interactive play.
Carefully selected activities in synthetic phonics, sequenced to build and consolidate knowledge, are embedded in the Story Hollow app to ensure students develop the required knowledge to become strong readers.
(The introduction of additional written activities and scripts in synthetic phonics will occur for 2023.)
- Alphabet Activities:
- An introduction to each of the letters of the alphabet,
- Most common initial sounds
- Alternate phoneme ad spelling choices
- Handwriting and Letter Formation
- 26 Printable Games
These activities provide additional practise in the consolidation of letter sound knowledge. Wonder Words ensures that students receive content in a variety of formats, providing flexibility to select the activities that appeal to individual learning styles.
The multimodal format enables you to differentiate activities to suit individual student needs.
Students remain engaged whilst receiving constant repetition in learning, locking in vital reading and spelling knowledge and reaching automaticity at a faster pace, which then builds fluency in reading, so students can more easily comprehend what they are reading.

Decodable readers have been developed in alignment with the word lists introduced each week, revising and building upon the knowledge gained in previous weeks.
The huge range of activities are focused around set word lists each week, where students progressively build upon previous weeks’ learning and are continually revisiting previously acquired sounds and words.
Research-based activities are designed to cater to the needs of all students, having taken into consideration the individual needs of students with learning difficulties, including students on the autism spectrum, students with dyslexia and ADHD.
Games have been included for each week in the program, not only strengthening word knowledge, but allowing teachers to easily assess knowledge as they hear students read words aloud, students further develop social skills and personal skills in game play and turn taking.
The games provided (along with access to the ‘Story Hollow’ app) make classroom rotation activities simple to set up. Everything is included.
Activities have been designed to keep students engaged and quickly build their confidence in reading.
Animations are included to provide teachers with quick transition activities or activities to settle students upon returning to the classroom from outside play.
